Good Friday is a special day in the Christian calendar. It marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ who is considered to be the son of god. The word Good Friday has mixed views over why it is being called Good Friday and not bad or sad Friday, though Christ was mercilessly crucified. There are other names for the day like god Friday and holy Friday. It is said that Jesus accepted the punishment considering that, the act will wash away all the sins of his people.

Crucifixion is the capital punishment of the Romans during which the person who is about to be punished is nailed to a wooden cross and left to die. Jesus Christ who preached love, peace and claimed to be the son of god was considered illegitimate by the Romans, which lead to his crucifixion. The crucifixion of Christ made the cross as the global symbol of Christianity. Also, Christians believed that the death of Christ is just for the body and the spirit is everlasting. On this day, people gather to their churches and offer prayers to their almighty remembering his sacrifice and sufferings. People consider the day as good as that is what lead to the resurrection of his spirit.

On this day people observe fasting and recite their prayers to the almighty remembering his sacrifice to cleanse their sins. Following the second next day is the Easter Sunday which is celebrated with utmost joy as it is the day when Jesus Christ rose from death. Christ followers rejoice the day with feast and celebrations.
